Chaperones
Chaperones are parents who travel with the club’s swimmers to meet/camp held out of town. The number of chaperone required depends on the number of swimmers attending and the requirement of the meet/camp. Chaperones assist the coaches with the supervision and the care of the swimmers while away. It is crucial to have responsible adult supervision for these meets/camps. Travel and usual expenses are covered for the chaperones. The chaperone works with the coaches as a team.
The chaperones main responsibilities are:
ü Ensure the safety and well being of the swimmers while traveling to and from the meet/camp.
ü Supervise swimmers during such times when they are not on deck.
ü Be available to the swimmers and provide guidance when necessary.
ü Know ALL the swimmers names, ages, parents name and phone number, pertinent medical information, special situations, etc. Collect Medical form / Formulaire Médical before they get on the bus/train/plane etc.
ü Be polite, courteous and helpful to the swimmers
ü Safeguard the swimmers valuables and money when asked.
ü Ensure the swimmers behave and act responsibly and are respectful of others.
ü Ensure that each swimmer has the chaperones room and phone number.
ü Ensure a first Aid kit is on the bus (Band-Aid, tape, etc., some medications like Tylenol or Advil and feminine supplies.
ü Ensure that the swimmers are accounted for at all time.
ü Arrange to have the group be on time, wherever you go.
ü When the bus is offloaded, check windows, floors and seats for trash or forgotten items.
ü Take regular attendance before the bus gets underway.
ü Meal planning, cooking and clean-up duties when required.
ü Arrange for restaurant reservation for specific time and inquire about special team deals.
ü Perform wake-up and final rounds
ü Coordinating pick-up and drop-off at the pool.
ü Check for clothes and towels after the meet.
