Fundraising 101-for new families

Fundraising not only provides revenue for the team to pay off pool rental, coaches fees, activities, equipment but also can decrease the amount that families need to pay for fundraising.

People not interested in doing any fundraising will have their cheque of $225 cashed in June /Si vous ne faites aucun activité votre chèque de $225 sera encaissé en Juin

Durant l'année il y plusieurs activités vous permettant de réduire les frais de $225 - Vous pouvez participer dans tous, rien, ou quelques'une/Throughout the swim year, many activities are offered to lower the $225 fee - you can participate in everything, nothing, or some.

Families who are "in charge" of organizing an activity receive an automatic $20 payback - all ideas welcome/Les familles qui "organizent" une activitée reçoivent $20 automatique sur leur frais - toutes idées sont bienvenues

Sobey's and Superstore = 2% for the family, 2% for the team; Subway Peelers $10 each = $3 for the team, $2 for the family

Some examples of how you can lower your $225 fee:

 Sell $100 worth of tickets on our TV/DVD/Gas draw and receive 40% of sales as your "payback" - $100 x 40% = $40
 Buy Sobey's or Superstore Certificates for groceries at $200 per week for 20 weeks = $4000 x 2% = $80
 3 boxes of bars or coffee (3 x $60) = $180- cost of bars $90 (profit $90) x 40% = $36
 Attend a BBQ where we sell $800 at 40% profit and 10 families participate = $32
 Sell 10 Subway Peelers at $10 each - 2% to the swim family = $20
Spearhead a fundraiser (bottle drive, swimathon, etc...) = $20


Total: $228 (we return your cheque and apply $3 to next year's fees)

I hope this clarifies things. Watch for emails from the webmaster and check the BLAST website often for information. Ask questions of "senior" parents and don't be shy to get involved. We are always looking for committee members, volunteers, and officials at swim meets. If you have contacts in the community that are looking to sponsor teams please let us know and we'll find ways to help them participate or donate and provide advertising on our website for their support.
