Training Camps

Training camps are special times, throughout the year, set
apart from the regular training schedule. The purpose of the training camps is to have the athletes go above and beyond their perceived limits, and to try new things. In a way it is a test of an athlete’s ability to challenge themselves at all levels.
Training camps are also an opportunity for dry-land training including cross training, resistance training, and the reinforcement of injury-preventive strategies such as stretching and flexibility training.
Some training camps are local camps (Christmas break, March break, etc.) while others are out-of-town. Away camps provide additional benefits of allowing the team to build cohesiveness and spirit in an environment away from the distractions of home. These camps also allow the swimmers to experience the training at different facilities, with swimmers from different teams.
While cost is minimal for local training camps, out of town camps are considerably more complex to arrange (transportation, lodging,
chaperones, etc), result in additional cost to the club as well as additional cost to the parents but are highly beneficial for all.
Final details/schedule is generally provided approximately 10-14 days prior to camp as well as final price, calculated according to the number of participant and once all the activities have been determined.
